The 2021 GMC Sierra HD isn't just a truck. It’s a powerhouse that offers owners exceptional towing, payload and rough terrain capabilities. It also offers an experience worthy of a luxury vehicle in the Denali model and off-road capabilities that are out of the ordinary in its AT4 version.
Redesigned last year, the 2021 GMC Sierra HD returns without significant changes this year, but still with its robust and powerful engines.
35,500 pounds of cargo capacity in the 2021 GMC Sierra HD
With 445 horsepower, the Duramax 6.6L turbodiesel generates 910 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the most powerful engines in the automotive industry. The new engine configuration introduced last year draws in more air and provides faster, more meaningful cooling. Paired with an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, this engine can tow up to 35,500 pounds, an exceptional capacity for a full-size truck.
The other engine offered is a 6.6-liter V8 that develops 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. This engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, can tow up to 18,500 pounds, which isn't bad either.
Versatility is another strong point of the 2021 GMC Sierra HD. Its body can handle more cargo with impressive volume and 12 corner hitches. The floor was lowered an inch last year for easier loading, and the loading bed steps are now at the rear and sides. The MultiPro tailgate always offers six configurations to suit the owner's needs.
When towing, a 15-camera system lets you see everything around and even directly behind the trailer. In addition, the Pro Grade Trailering app offers a host of great features when towing often, and an advanced camera system makes hitching a hitch much easier.
Comfort and luxury in the Sierra HD 2021
The 2021 GMC Sierra HD is built for work, but it's also not afraid of the highway. In terms of comfort, the Sierra HD is more comfortable in daily driving situations than the Silverado HD, but also the F-150 SuperDuty and RAM HD. The Sierra combines luxury and power like no other truck can. It’s a performance bully, but in an evening dress.
Each edition is refined and well designed. Dark-finished aluminum, a contrasting stitch pattern, coarse pebble leather and open pore wood give texture and sophistication to the Denali Edition which is by far the most luxurious HD truck on the market.
