The 2023 GMC Sierra is offered with several powertrain options, as well as exceptional towing capacity. Here's a look at the new GMC Sierra's engines, and the towing capacities of the 2WD and 4WD models.

2.7-litre TurboMax entry-level powertrain

To begin with, the 2.7-litre TurboMax engine benefits from a number of significant improvements this year. With new steel pistons, a revised turbocharger and improved fuel injectors, the engine delivers impressive power. 5.3-litre ECOTEC3 V8

The 5.3-litre ECOTEC3 V8 is one of two V8 engines available for the 2023 GMC Sierra. This engine is standard on SLT and Denali versions, but is also available as an option on Pro, SLE and Elevation models. It delivers a formidable 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque, combined with a robust 10-speed automatic transmission. 6.2-litre ECOTEC3 V8

Developing an impressive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, this powertrain is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Like its 5.3-litre sibling, it features a dynamic fuel management system with cylinder deactivation for enhanced efficiency. Duramax 3.0-litre Turbodiesel

Finally, we have the new-generation Duramax 3.0-litre Turbodiesel. This engine has been upgraded this year to deliver more power and torque. With superior temperature control and new components, it promises improved performance. Available on several versions of the new Sierra 1500 2023, it produces 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque, more torque than any other diesel engine in its segment. This power is delivered smoothly by a 10-speed automatic transmission.
