The GMC Sierra AT4X is new for 2022 and it brings together luxury and off-road driving by combining rugged mechanical elements and a host of comfort and convenience features.
The off-road suspension
The new GMC Sierra AT4X is equipped to tackle any terrain due to its rugged and capable suspension that uses Multimatic DSSV spool valve dampers and unique springs to offer 50 millimeters more suspension travel in the front and 25 millimeters more in the rear than the suspension found under the regular Sierra AT4. This allows the Sierra AT4X to go where no other Sierra has gone before by making it more capable than ever. Once on paved roads, this suspension setup is not punishing and it is able to provide the level of comfort that is expected from a luxury truck.
A robust powertrain
The new GMC Sierra AT4X is available with only one drivetrain combination: the 6.2L V8 paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine is the top choice in any Sierra and the only one available in the AT4X, reinforcing its status as a premium truck. With 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, this powertrain is capable of impressive on-road performances as well as helping the AT4X power through mud and sand. In order to provide better traction on uneven surfaces, driver-actuated locking front and rear differentials are standard, as is the two-speed transfer case.
A large dose of luxury
As it is not only an off-road-focused machine but also a luxury truck, the new GMC Sierra AT4X is equipped with a number of premium features that enhance its comfort. For instance, the interior is finished in full grain leather accented by white piping and red stitching while the dashboard receives real dark Venta ash wood trim. The luxury doesn’t end there since the 12-speaker Bose Center Point premium audio system is also standard and so are the 16-way power adjustable front seats with massage function.
