Buick dominates latest J.D. Power of Initial Quality Study

The 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study results have been released and Buick was named the number one brand this year, a major honor for the American automaker.

The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study has been performed for the last 36 years and aims to rank every brand selling vehicles in North America based on the number of problems experienced by owners in the first 90 days of possession. In other words, the study ranks the brands that deliver the best quality in the initial three months after purchase.

This year, over 80,000 new vehicle owners were surveyed. They were asked 223 questions in total related to various aspects of initial ownership. The goal of the study is to determine how many problems per 100 vehicles each brand had in the first three months of ownership. With just 132 problems per 100 vehicles, Buick certainly stood out.

The average for the industry was 180 problems per 100 vehicles, and according to J.D. Power, initial quality got worse this year. In any case, Buick as well as the Buick Encore GX which won its segment for initial quality stood out and once again proved that Buick vehicles are always able to exceed the expectations of their owners.
