GMC unveiled one of the most exciting concepts in quite some time this week when it took the wraps off of the GMC Canyon AT4 OVRLANDX, a heavily modified Canyon that is designed with the needs of overlanding enthusiasts and adventurers.
AT4 has been the officially designation for GMC off-road vehicles since the nameplate was introduced on the 2019 GMC Sierra. Offered on the Canyon since 2020, AT4 brings a higher lift, more rugged suspension, bigger tires, and a range of other elements that make heading off-road a lot easier.
The OVRLANDX takes that another level with a factory lift kit, wide off-road chassis, off-road panel protectors, integrated recovery points, a more robust front bumper with winch, front and rear locking differentials, wheel flares with built-in lamps, DSSV dampers, guy lines for windshield protection from branches, and cast iron control arms.
The tires are 33-inch BF Goodrich KM3 mud-terrain tires and the OVRLANDX features a 27.7-degree approach angle with a 10-inch ground clearance. The concept offers quite a bit of optional gear as well to make life in the woods easier, namely a cooler, kitchenette, and more storage space.
“We wanted to showcase GMC Canyon with this concept, and punctuate GMC’s commitment to premium, off-road-capable vehicles,” said Duncan Aldred, global vice-president of Buick and GMC. “Consumer reaction to this concept’s design will help us further serve the growing market of buyers leading authentic outdoor lifestyles.”
