In the blink of an eye, the GMC Yukon has gone from a big SUV built like a truck to one of the most refined, comfortable, luxurious, and well-loved full-size sport utility vehicles. If you read a review of a 2023 GMC Yukon and compare it to a review of the previous generation model, you will see that the changes are like night and day.
The Yukon received many changes not only to the exterior, but also to the interior in its 2021 redesign. Most importantly, the Yukon's chassis and suspension layout has changed, significantly improving the comfort level on board while freeing up more interior space for passengers. Here are three things that make the new 2023 GMC Yukon the special SUV that it is.
Its interior space
If you need a lot of space, the GMC Yukon 2023 is the perfect SUV for you. The new generation offers an extra 25 centimeters of legroom inside and the third row gets an extra 289 liters of total space. The main difference between the new Yukon and the last Yukon is that now you don't have to opt for the extended wheelbase version to get the space you need. You'll enjoy 722 liters of cargo space behind the rear seat in the base model and 1,164 liters of cargo space behind the rear seats in the Yukon XL.
The impressive engine lineup
There are different engines available on the 2023 GMC Yukon. The base engine is the 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and is available on the SLE and SLT versions while being the only option on the more rugged AT4 version.
The rugged and proven 6.2-liter V8 is available exclusively on Denali and the new Denali Ultimate and delivers 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This engine not only offers top-notch performance, but also excellent towing capacity of up to 8,400 lbs.
Luxury
You can't talk about the GMC Yukon without talking about the luxury it offers. This SUV sets itself apart by offering its owners incredible luxury and refinement. The Denali, with its connectivity, safety and comfort technologies, leads the way. The Denali also gets an exclusive interior. The new Denali Ultimate model takes luxury to the next level with an ultra-refined leather-covered interior as well as cutting-edge technologies. That said, no matter which Yukon you buy, you'll be impressed with the comfort and refinement.
