In the blink of an eye, the GMC Yukon went from being a big SUV built like a truck to one of the most refined, comfortable, luxurious, and appreciated full-size sport utility vehicles. If you read any review of a 2021 GMC Yukon and compare it with a review of the previous generation model, you will see that the changes are like night and day.
The Yukon received numerous changes not only to its exterior, but its interior as well. More importantly, the Yukon’s chassis and suspension layout changed which dramatically improved the comfort level onboard while also freeing up more interior space for passengers. Here are three things that make the new 2021 GMC Yukon the special SUV that it is.
Its interior space
If you need a lot of space, the 2021 GMC Yukon is the perfect SUV for you. The new generation offers 25 additional centimetres of leg room inside and the third row gets an extra 289 litres of total space. The major difference between the new Yukon and the last Yukon is that now, you don’t have to go with the extended wheelbase version to get the space you need. You will enjoy 722 litres of cargo space behind the rear seat in the base version, and 1,164 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats in the Yukon XL.
The impressive engine lineup
There are three available engines on the 2021 GMC Yukon. The base engine is the 5.3-litre V8 that delivers 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic and it is offered on the SLE and SLT trims while being the only option on the more rugged AT4 trim.
The rugged and proven 6.2-litre V8 is offered exclusively on the Denali and brings 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque to the table. Lastly, the new 3.0-litre Duramax turbodiesel inline-six is offered on every trim except the AT4. With 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, this engine delivers exceptional performance paired with great fuel economy.
The luxury
We can’t talk about the GMC Yukon without talking about the luxury it offers. This SUV stands out by offering its owners incredible luxury and refinement. The Denali, with its connectivity, safety, and comfort technologies, leads the way. The Denali also gets an exclusive interior. That said, regardless of which Yukon you buy, you will be impressed by the comfort and the refinement.
