Three Things to Know About the New GMC Yukon

The all-new GMC Yukon comes back in 2021 with new and updated engines, class-leading advancements and much more. The Yukon also gets an AT4 variant for 2021, which is upgraded with a slew of off-road oriented elements.

The new GMC Yukon has class-learning power, with a new diesel option

The new Yukon has class-leading power from a selection of three engine options. The 6.2-litre eight-cylinder engine on previous models is all-new and delivers class-leading 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The all-new standard engine is a 5.3-litre eight-cylinder.

The third engine is a new turbocharged six-cylinder turbo-diesel Duramax engine that produces 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. When efficiency and torque are your focus, this new engine will deliver.

The drivetrain of every Yukon includes a 10-speed automatic transmission that offers advanced operation that results in better performance, smooth shifting, and lower fuel consumption. Look for the new turbo-diesel to have class-leading efficiency.

The new GMC Yukon advances the 4WD experience

Important for driving on Canada's diverse roads, the all-new Active Response 4WD System brings big vehicle traction with a smaller car feel. Several components make up this system, including a two-speed transfer case, chassis controls, Traction Select, and a new electronic Limited Slip Differential. These offer ride isolating characteristics that aren't common on full-size SUVs. Add in the new multilink independent rear suspension, and it's a chassis that must be driven.

The new electronic Limited Slip Differential is key to making the 4WD system work. It proactively gathers information from many vehicle inputs so it can proactively manage axle torque and other vehicle output. It works laterally on each side rather than per axle.

The new AT4 variant also takes the 4WD experience to new levels, with added protective plates, off-road mode, an adaptive suspension and a 2-inch lift, among other features.

The new GMC Yukon offers more surprises inside

The Yukon offers all-new interiors across the entire lineup. This includes a maximum cargo volume increase by a jaw-dropping 30 percent. The Yukon XL increases its wheelbase by 4.1 inches and overall length by 1%, retaining its designation as the roomiest SUV in the lineup. The cargo loading door is now flatter and makes cargo more accessible.

Technology upgrades with a class-leading 15-inch-diagonal Head-Up Display that projects many safety features and other important driving information.
