The GMC Sierra was heavily reworked for 2022 with a revised exterior design, an all-new interior and more features and technologies than ever before.
The technologies inside
The 2022 GMC Sierra is available with some of the most advanced technologies of the industry that are engineered to make driving easier and more comfortable. For example, the Sierra Denali Ultimate, the new top-of-the line model is equipped with the Super Cruise driver assistance system which allows you to take your hands of the steering wheel when traveling on a compatible highway. This system has been improved and it is now capable of being used even when towing. Other technologies include the 14-view camera system, which allows you to clearly see around the Sierra to make parking and manoeuvring in tight places easier. In terms of infotainment, the SLE trim and above receive a 13.4-inch touchscreen with Google integration and wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The vehicle information is displayed on a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch head up display.
The powertrains
The 2022 GMC Sierra received a few changes to its mechanicals as well, notably the standard 2,7L turbocharged engine. This powertrain is now more powerful and more durable, which makes it even better suited to the Sierra. The engine block is more rigid and the crankshaft has been made 30% stiffer, which translates into a smoother engine that develops 20% more torque at low speeds. These changes have bumped this engine’s maximum tow rating up to 9,600 pounds. This engine is not the only one to receive modifications, however, since the available Duramax 3.0L diesel six-cylinder engine now makes 460 lb-ft of torque, which gives it a maximum tow rating of 13,200 pounds. To complete the powertrain lineup for 2022, the renowned 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines are still available, unchanged from last year.
